Es wummert, dampft und jault durch die Gehörgänge, wenn Lurch auf der Bühne stehen. Sie machen psychedelische Musik für Metalfans, funky Garage Punk mit Doomgeschmack, ein bissl heavy, ein bissl frech und immer ein bissl aufs Maul. Und sie haben Spaß. Das zeigt auch ihr erstes Album, das am 14. März 2025 über StoneFree Records erscheinen wird – selftitled, auf Vinyl und digital.
Aufgenommen in einer verschneiten Dezemberwoche 2023 in der ehrwürdigen KAPU in Linz, fassen die sechs Songs zusammen, was bisher in der Bandgeschichte geschehen ist. Vom ersten Song, den sie zusammen geschrieben haben (10), über verträumt-verspielte Heavy Psych Rifferei mit viel Distortion und Wah-Wah (WUMMATIL/CROQUE MADAME), groovy Space-Kraut- Rhythmen (SHOOTA) und punkig-freche Rock-Beats mit Halftime-Doom (WAUGA), mal mit und mal ohne Vocals, bis zu ihrer kürzesten und fetzigsten Nummer CASCADE zeigen Lurch, dass sie alles andere als eindimensional sind.
Sie schreiben Songs, die sie selbst hören wollen und verbinden ihre eigenen musikalischen Vorlieben zu einem wilden Mix, der vor allem eines sein soll: nicht fad. Einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf das Debutalbum der vier Wienerinnen gibt’s am 28. Februar mit der Single CASCADE inkl. Musikvideo. Offiziell gefeiert wird der Release im März, April und Mai bei sechs Shows in Österreich.

It hums, steams and howls through your ear canals when Lurch are on stage. They make psychedelic music for metal fans, funky garage punk with a doom flavor, a bit heavy, a bit cheeky and always a bit in your face. And they have fun. This is also reflected on their first album, which will be released on March 14, 2025 via StoneFree Records – selftitled, on vinyl and digitally.
Recorded in a snowy week in December 2023 at the venerable KAPU in Linz, the six songs summarize what has happened so far in the band’s history. From the first song they wrote together (10), to dreamy, playful heavy psych riffing with lots of distortion and wah-wah (WUMMATIL/CROQUE MADAME), groovy space-kraut rhythms (SHOOTA) and saucy rock beats with half-time doom (WAUGA), sometimes with and sometimes without vocals, to their shortest and most light-hearted number CASCADE, Lurch show that they are anything but one-dimensional.
They write songs that they themselves want to hear and combine their own musical preferences into a wild mix that is intended to be one thing above all: not bland. A teaser for the debut album will be available on February 28th with the single CASCADE, including a music video. The release will be officially celebrated in March, April and May at six shows in Austria.
